I like how this shows Temeraire starting to understand that things won't change quickly, no matter how much he wants them to.  That was one thing that got on my nerves a bit in the books; it's easy to forget, with how intelligent he is, that Temeraire is in fact very young, and thus, he has a sort of naiveté about how the world works.  It's nice to see him starting to figure it out a bit.
